WEST LEADS TCNJ OVER RAMAPO, 47-46

Box Score Mahwah, NJ:  The Lions of the College of New Jersey fought from behind to defeat the Roadrunners by a slim, 47-46 in a New Jersey Athletic Conference women's basketball match-up today at the Bradley Center. 
 
Liz West was the lone Lion in double-digits, sinking the game winning basket with just 15 seconds on the clock, leading the team with ten points shooting 4-7 from the field.  The team combined shooting 15-48 (31%) while forcing 21 Ramapo turnovers in the win. 
 
The Lions trailed the Roadrunners for the entire first half, finally catching Ramapo with 16:07 remaining in the game, when a three-point goal from Tiffany DeTulio tied the game for the first time at 24.  The Lions' first lead, 28-27, came just one minute later with a second long ball from DeTulio.  The two teams traded baskets over the next eight minutes before a three-point goal from Kelly Roddy put the Lions up, 39-35 with 7:31 to play.  West sunk a basket with just over five minutes to go to give TCNJ their biggest lead of the game, 43-38, but Ramapo responded with a mini-run to close the gap to 44-45.  With just 25 seconds to play, Alex Milne hit a basket to take a one point, 46-45 lead, but a last second shot by West sealed the game for TCNJ, 47-46.
 
Ramapo was led by Milne with 13 points and Jackie Jerkovich posted ten while grabbing a team leading three steals.  The team shot a combined 14-42 (33%) in the loss. 
 
The Roadrunners opened the game on a 6-0 run, sparked by two good free throws from Milne. TCNJ's Roddy finally got the Lions on the board with a jump shot at the 16:15 minute mark.  TCNJ would close the gap, 9-5 with a three-point goal from Jessica Goldbach, before a second run from Ramapo gave the Roadrunners a seven-point edge with 13:43 to play.  Over the next five minutes, TCNJ would slowly chip away on Ramapo's lead, coming within two pints, 12-10, with a two-point goal from West. Three points from Micaela Moore and an additional three from Kelly Haspel put the Roadrunners up eight points, before a 7-2 run from the Lions put them within just three points heading into the intermission, 20-17.  Ramapo shot a combined 7-18 (39%) in the half while the Lions put away 5-26 (19%).  Haspel led the Roadrunners with six points and Kelly Coughlin posted a team leading six points for the Lions.
 
Coughlin finished the game with eight points and DeTulio, Candace Vigo, and Jessica Goldbach each contributed six points for the Lions.
 
The Roadrunners return to action on Wednesday, December 12th when they host the Scarlet Raiders of Rutgers Newark at 5:30pm at the Bradley Center. The Lions host Rowan University at home on Wednesday at 6:00pm.
