Micaela Moore led the Roadrunners with 13 points to a 64-45 victory over the Scarlet Raptors of Rutgers Camden in a New Jersey Athletic Conference women's basketball match-up today at the Bradley Center. With the victory the Roadrunners improve to 12-7 overall and 4-5 in the conference. The Scarlet Raptors fall to 12-8 overall, 2-7 in the conference.
Moore shot 5-8 from the floor and pulled down a team high eight rebounds while the team went 22-50 (44%) in the 19-point win.
Alexa Ryan netted 12 points hitting 5-12 including two three-point baskets, while rookie
Alex Milne added ten points to the game.
Lindsey Gripenburg pulled down eight defensive boards as the team out rebounded the Scarlet Raptors 39-33.
After opening the game with two straight Ramapo baskets from Gripenburg and
Jackie Jerkovich, Brittany Turner sunk a two-point goal for Rutgers Camden before Ramapo's Milne sparked a 14-point run to take a 18-2 lead just over seven minutes into the game. The Roadrunners continued to spread the gap earning their biggest lead at 4:08 when a three-point basket from rookie
Kelly Haspel gave Ramapo a 32-11 (21-point) lead. Alex Koutras closed out the half with a three-point goal with 24 seconds to play putting the Scarlet Raptors within 18, 38-20, heading into intermission. Koutras led the Scarlet Raptors in the half with seven points. Moore sank a team leading eight for Ramapo.
In the opening 5:16 of the second half, the Scarlet Raptors closed the gap to 12 with a three-point basket from Turner (42-30), before Ramapo strung together seven points to jump ahead 49-30 with 13:24 on the clock. Ramapo controlled the rest of the game stretching their lead to 23 on three occasions before closing out the game with the 64-45 victory. Turner sunk ten points in the half for Rutgers Camden and Ryan led Ramapo with seven.
Ramapo returns to action on Monday when they face off with Polytechnic at the Bradley Center at 5:30 PM.
