TCNJ TOPS RAMAPO, 55-45

Box Score Mahwah, NJ:  The Ramapo College women's basketball team fell to NJAC rival The College of New Jersey today at the Bradley Center, 55-45. The Roadrunners fall to 10-5 overall, 2-3 in the NJAC while the Lions improve to 11-6, 3-3 in the conference.

The Lions jumped out to an 11 point lead, 15-4 (9:40) before Ramapo cut the lead to six, 15-9 (8:58) on a three pointer by Lindsey Gripenburg. TCNJ extended their lead back to 11 with 6:31 left in the half on a three pointer by Jessica Imhof. Kelly Haspel came back down the court and hit a three point shot of her own  before Alexa Ryan converted two of her foul shots with 4:04 on the clock, 23-17.  The Lions went on an 11-0 run to end the first half as Kelsey Kutch made a basket with 25 seconds left on the clock for the final basket heading into the locker room with a 17-point Lion lead, 34-17.

The Lions had a 23 point lead twice in the second half (17:55 & 10:08) before the Roadrunners went on a 13-2 run capped off by a Jackie Jerkovich three pointer at 5:57 to shrink the lead to twelve,  52-40. A pair of TCNJ foul shots and back to back made baskets by Alex Milne put the score at 54-44 with 1:53 left in the game before each team made one of two foul shots as TCNJ held onto the 55-45 win. This was TCNJ head coach Dawn Henderson's 400th career win, she became the 28th head coach in NCAA Division III women's basketball history to reach the 400-win plateau.

Ramapo shot 28% (15-53) from the field to TCNJ's 37% (19-51) while the Lions shot 75% (12-16) from the charity stripe to Ramapo's 55% (10-18). No one on the Roadrunners roster scored in double-digits, while Jerkovich and Gripenburg each recorded nine points. Jerkovich dished out three assists while adding three steals and three rebounds. Alex Milne added eight points, four rebounds and Haspel posted seven points and three assists.

For TCNJ, three players scored in double figures as Hannah Tait led the Lions with 16 points (6-10 from the field) while she was 3-7 from behind the three point line. She also grabbed a team high eight rebounds while Imhof and Kutch each posted 12 points.

The Roadrunners return to action in a key NJAC conference game on Wednesday at the Bradley Center against Rutgers Newark University. The game is slated for 5:30 pm.
