Box Score Springfield, MA: The Western New England men's soccer team battled to a scoreless draw against Ramapo College in a non-conference contest on Wednesday at Suprenant Field.
The Golden Bears now stand at 6-2-1 overall on the year; while the Roadrunners are now 5-1-1 on the season.
WNE held a slight 15-12 advantage in shots; and a slim 3-2 edge in shots on target. While the Roadrunners held the advantage in in shots in the two overtime periods, 3-0.
Both teams had their best chances of the match in the first half of play. Western New England had an opportunity in the 9th minute as senior midfielder Corey Howard had his effort on goal blocked by a Ramapo defender on the goal line after junior goalkeeper
David Lo Bue came off his line to punch away the cross.
The Roadrunners nearly jumped out in front in the 17th minute on a volley attempt by junior midfielder
Danny Walsh that was blasted off the crossbar.
The Golden Bears dictated play in the second stanza as they held an 11-4 edge in shots and attempted six corner kicks, but were unable to convert on their chances.
Junior goalkeeper Nick Starr went the distance in net for WNE, making two saves to preserve the shutout.

Western New England returns to the field on Saturday as they host Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) rival Salve Regina at 11:00 a.m. on Homecoming. Ramapo will travel to NJAC rival Rutgers-Newark for a 7:30 p.m. contest on Saturday.
