BARRETTA NETS 100TH CAREER GOAL; RAMAPO DOWNS RIVAL KEAN, 18-8

Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College women's lacrosse team clinched the second seed in the 2011 Skyline Conference tournament with a 18-8 win over rival Kean University today at the Athletic Center. The Roadrunners improve to 9-4 overall, 7-1 in the Skyline and 1-3 in the NJAC while the Cougars drop to 8-7 overall, 5-3 in the Skyline and 1-3 in the NJAC.

The 2011 Skyline Tournament bracket will be announced at the conclusion of conference play.

Ramapo's Amanda Barretta became the first Roadrunner in school history to eclipse the 100 career goal mark when she scored off a free position shot, her second goal of the game. Colleen Steel led the team with six goals while Barretta tallied five. Adrianna Tepedino netted four goals and she dished out four assists while Jenna Pfarr tallied three goals of her own and one assist.

Steel opened up the scoring for Ramapo with a goal 16 seconds into the game off a pass from Tepedino before Tepedino added a goal 13 seconds later to go up 2-0. Amanda South got the Cougars on the board with an unassisted goal before Ramapo scored two goals to take a 4-1 lead.

Lyndsey Cannon added a goal for Kean to come within two goals of tying the game before Ramapo recorded five straight goals. Tepedino hit the back of the net off a free position shot before Barretta netted her 100th career goal. Barretta then won the next draw control and sprinted to the net as she scored her 39th goal of the season for a 7-2 lead. Tepedino tallied one goal off a Pfarr pass while Steel added the final goal of the half, unassisted to take a 9-2 lead.

Ramapo scored nine goals in the second half to Kean's six. The Roadrunners stretched their lead to ten goals, 18-8, with under two minutes to play in the game. Diana Silva recorded 12 saves and a game high eight in the second half to help lead the Roadrunners to victory.

Ramapo returns to action on Saturday when they host NJAC rival Rutgers-Camden University at 1:00pm.
