Box Score Wayne, NJ:  William Paterson (6-0, 1-0 NJAC) blew open the game with a 20-2 run early in the second half, running away from visiting Ramapo (4-1, 0-1 NJAC), 73-49, Nov. 30 in the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) women's basketball opener for both teams.

Sophomore guard Floriana Borova scored 16 of her game-high 18 points during the second half, shooting 7-for-12 (.583) overall and 4-for-7 (.571) from three-point range.  Junior guard Lindsey Callander scored 14 points, senior all-American guard BriAnna Lucas contributed 12 tallies, and senior all-American forward April Smith saw her consecutive double-double streak snapped at five games after posting seven points and a game-best 14 rebounds.

Ahead by seven at 36-29 with 16:24 on the clock, Borova scored five of the next seven points, igniting the Pioneers' offense in the second half.  Back-to-back three-pointers by Callander made it a 56-31 score with 11:24 to play as WP held the Roadrunners to 1-for-7 (.143) shooting while forcing six turnovers during a 5:00 span.

After shooting just 30.3 (10-33) percent from the field during the first half, William Paterson was 16-for-32 (.500) after the intermission, including a 6-for-11 (.545) effort from three-point range.  The Pioneers enjoyed a 50-31 rebounding edge overall, out-scoring Ramapo 18-9 in second-chance points, and nearly doubled up the Roadrunners on points off turnovers (24-13).

WP had a hard-time shaking the pesky Roadrunners during the opening moments of the contest, but a 10-3 spurt put the Pioneers on top, 17-10, with 7:18 on the clock.  Ramapo responded by scoring seven of the next nine points, but two Tatiana Javis free throws and baskets by Lucas and Smith helped WP take a 25-19 lead into the break.

Junior Alexa Ryan scored 15 points and added four steals to lead Ramapo.  Sophomore Brittany Howes collected six points and a game-best five rebounds.

The Roadrunners return to action on Saturday when they host NJAC rival Kean University at 1:00pm.
