Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College women's lacrosse team posted a 14-4 win over Maritime College today at the Athletic Center. The Roadrunners now stand at 6-2 overall and 3-1 in the Skyline while the Privateers stand at 1-5 overall and 0-2 in the conference.
Sophomore
Amanda Barretta (Roseland, NJ) got Ramapo on the board just 1:36 into the game with an unassisted shot before sophomore
Christina Cigolini (Ridgewood, NJ) hit the back of the net at the 2:17 mark to go up 2-0.
Jill Davenport (Miller Place, NY) and Catherine Brady (Holbrok, NY) teamed up to come within one goal at 6:01, 2-1 before Ramapo scored two straight goals to take a 4-2 lead. Barretta scored at 11:41 in the half while sophomore
Jessica Long (Wayne, NJ) added a goal at 11:41.
Kristen Saporito (Rocky Point, NY) scored for the Privateers at 12:13 in the half while junior
Jenna Pfarr (Cranford, NJ) and Long teamed up to score the eventual game winning goal at 12:58 into the first half. The Roadrunner closed out the first half with three goals to take a 9-2 lead.
In the second half sophomore
Brittany Gazzanigo (Millstone Twp., NJ) took a pass from rookie
Katie Bruno (Middletown, NJ) to put the Roadrunners up 10-2 before sophomore
Lindsey Jachens (Montvale, NJ) scored off a pass from rookie
Adrianna Tepedino (Freehold, NJ), 11-2. Ramapo added three more goals in the half coming from Cigolini, sophomore
Christina Urciuoli (Matawan, NJ), and senior
Megan Tierney (Wayne, NJ) to take at 14-3 lead. Davenport recorded the final goal of the game for Maritime off an unassisted shot, 14-4.
Ramapo out shot Maritime, 29-18 for the game. Tierney and junior
Diana Silva (Howell, NJ) split time in the cage for Ramapo. Tierney tallied four saves and two goals against while Silva stopped five shots with two goals against.
The Roadrunners return to action on April 8th when they travel to Rowan University at 6:00 PM.
