Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College women's lacrosse team fell to the #5 ranked The College of New Jersey today at the Athletic Center. They Lions improve to 10-0 overall and 2-0 in the NJAC while the Roadrunners fall to 6-4 overall and 2-3 in conference.
Ramapo jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first two minutes of the game on a free position shot by sophomore
Christina Cigolini (Ridgewood, NJ). The Lions tied the game when sophomore Sara Keating scored on a free position shot and took the lead for good at the 26:01 mark. Junior Ali Jaeger (Hampton, NJ) took a pass from rookie Jillian Nealon (Whitehouse Station, NJ) to go up, 2-1.
Sophomore
Amanda Barretta (Roseland, NJ) got the Roadrunners within one goal, 3-2 on an unassisted goal with 25:16 remaining in the first half. The Lions scored three straight goals to take a, 6-2 lead before Barretta hit the back of the net on a free position shot at the 21:33 mark. TCNJ went on an eight goal run before Cigolini scored her second goal of the half on a free position shot. Jaeger teamed up with sophomore Leigh Mitchell (Mt. Laurel, NJ) for the Lion's final goal of the half before Cigolini was awarded a free position shot as time expired, she made the shot to end the first half down, 15-5.
TCNJ scored five goals in the second half, senior Lisa Seldeen, Mitchell and Jeager all recorded one goal while Nealon recorded two goals in the half. Jaeger finished the game with five goals, senior Robin Deehan scored four goals and added four assists while sophomore Kathleen Notos added three goals of her own.
Lions goalie junior Mary Waller recorded five saves in the game with five goals against as she improved to 10-0 on the season.
The Roadrunners host Sage College on Wednesday at 4:00 PM.
