KEAN GETS 17TH STRAIGHT WIN, 79-64 OVER RAMAPO

Mahwah, NJ:  NCAA DIII all-time leader in three-point field goals made, Melissa Beyruti (Union City, NJ), knocked down five more three-point shots tonight leading her team to a 79-64 victory over the Roadrunners of Ramapo College in women's basketball action at the Bradley Center.  The win was her team's 17th straight victory to improve to 17-1 overall, remaining undefeated in NJAC play, 6-0 in the conference.

The Roadrunners jumped out to a 5-0 lead after a quick three-point shot and jumper from Brittany Hoffman (Belford, NJ) just under one minute into the game.  Free throws put Kean on the scoreboard but with nine turnovers over the next nine minutes, Ramapo spread their lead to nine, 22-13, halfway through the first half.  The Cougars responded with an 11-2 run, sparked by a three-point goal from Beyruti, and capped off with a jump shot from Tiffany Patrick (Piscataway, NJ), to tie the game for the first time at 24 with 7:14 on the clock.  Cardiss Jackman (Tobyhanna, PA) gave the Cougars their first lead of the game hitting two free throws just under one minute later to go up, 26-24.  The remaining minutes in the half remained close but Kean held the lead for the rest of the way besides the game's second tie, 28-28, with 3:57 to play.  The two teams headed into the intermission separated by just two points with Kean holding a slight edge, 37-35.

Ramapo forced 16 Kean turnovers, committing only nine in the half, but fell short on rebounds, 13-30.  The Cougars combined hitting 13-31 (42%), while the Roadrunners went 10-31 (32%) in the first half of play.  Patrick led Kean with 15 points and eight boards while Stephanie Cannizzaro (Pequannock, NJ) hit 3-7 from the field for a team leading ten first half points.  Rookie Meghan Reilly (Morganville, NJ) chipped in nine.

Kean hit six three-point goals in the second half, and controlled the lead for the full 20 minutes, besides a 37-37 tie in the opening minute.  They earned their biggest lead at 1:43 when Jackman knocked down the game's eighth three-point goal for an 18-point, 79-61, Cougar lead.  Kean forced 16 Ramapo turnovers and committed 13 in the final half of play, while holding a slight edge in rebounds, 19-17.  Kean shot 15-31 (48%) and Ramapo went 14-27 (52%) in the half.

Patrick finished the night with a double-double hitting 7-12 from the field, including 8-12 from the charity stripe, for 22 points.  She pulled down a team high 15 rebounds.  Beyruti netted 21 points of her own and Jackman finished the night with 18.  The team hit a combined 28-62 (45%), over Ramapo's 24-58 (41%) on the night.

Reilly hit 17 points and Cannizzaro wrapped up the game with 14.  Reilly grabbed four steals and rookie Faith Flannery (Red Bank, NJ) dished out a team high five assists.
