Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College women's basketball team fell the Shorewomen of Washington College today at the Bradley Center, 70-62. The Roadrunners even their record to 4-4 on the season while the Shorewomen improve to 4-5.
The Roadrunners took a 7-3 lead on a made jumper by junior
Stephanie Cannizzaro (Pequannock, NJ) with 13:15 to go in the first half. A good three pointer by the Shorewomen made it 7-6 before back to back jumpers by rookie
Faith Flannery (Red Bank, NJ) put the Roadrunners back on top 11-6 for their biggest lead of the half.
The Shorewomen came back with a three pointer by Sally O'Donnell before senior
Mallory Cornett (Hawthorne, NJ) scored a layup, 13-9 with 10:53 to go. A made lay up and two good foul shots by S. O'Donnell would tie the game at 13 before the Shorewomen would start to pull away with 7:56 to go with another made three pointer by S. O'Donnell and a made three pointer at 7:30 by Jane O'Donnell, 19-15. They would take their biggest lead with 5:42 left in the half, 23-17 on a made three pointer by Jessica Jamrogowicz.
Two made foul shots by Flannery and back to back jumpers by Cannizzaro tied the game at 23-23 with 4:16 remaining. Ramapo and Washington would trade baskets before Cannizzaro hit a jumper with five seconds remaining to cut the lead to two, 31-29.
The Shorewomen would take an 11 point lead in the second half, 49-38 on a made three pointer before Ramapo came back within six on a made jumper and good foul shot by rookie
Meghan Reilly (Morganville, NJ), 49-43. Ramapo would have no answer for the Shorewomen's three pointers as they made 14 in the game as well as going 18-20 (90%) from the foul line.
S. O'Donnell would make 7-11 from the three point line and a perfect 6-6 from the foul line as she tallied a game high 27 points while grabbing 12 rebounds. Jane O'Donnell tallied 19 points as she was 5-10 from beyond the arc.
For the Roadrunners, Reilly tallied 16 points and pulled down seven rebounds while Cannizzaro led the team with 19 points.
