RAMAPO DEFEATS MEDGAR EVERS, 70-53

Drew hands the College of Saint Elizabeth a 63-48 loss

Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College women's basketball team opened up the 2009-2010 season with a 70-53 win over Medgar Evers College tonight at the Bradley Center.

Rookie Meghan Reilly (Morganville, NJ) tallied 20 points in her collegiate debut as she went 10-13 from the field while grabbing nine rebounds and four steals. Junior Stephanie Cannizzaro (Pequannock, NJ) posted 18 points going 6-12 from the field and 5-7 from the foul line, she added three assists and four steals. Rookie Faith Flannery (Red Bank, NJ) added eight points and three assists.

For the Cougars, sophomore Tiffany Thompson (South Brox, NY) recorded a double-double when she tallied 28 points, 9-12 from the field and 10-17 from the foul line, while she grabbed 18 rebounds. Rookie Jaide Lewis (Brooklyn, NY) added ten points and four assists.

The Roadrunners (1-0) will now take on Drew University in the championship game of the Roadrunner Tip-Off Tournament at 3:00 PM while Medgar Evers (1-2) will play the College of Saint Elizabeth at 1:00 PM in the consolation game.

In game two, Drew University (3-0) dominated the Screaming Eagles (0-1), 63-48 to pick up their third win of the season. Three players scored in double-digits for the Rangers. Drew shot 52% from the field in the game while the Screaming Eagles shot 33%.

Sophomore Danielle Barber (Cape May Court House, NJ) scored a game high 18 points as she went 8-10 from the field and grabbed five rebounds while dishing out a team high nine assists. Senior Jessica DelVecchio (North Caldwell, NJ) added 11 points as she was 4-7 from the field and 3-6 from behind the arc. Rookie Eden Blazovic (Lake Hopatcong, NJ) tallied ten points and grabbed four rebounds while dishing out two assists.

For the Screaming Eagles, senior Sarah Kozlowski (Manalapan, NJ) scored a team high 17 points by going 5-13 from the field and 7-10 from the foul line while dishing out four assists. Sophomore Anastasia Feola (Simsbury, CT) grabbed a team high seven rebounds while adding five points of her own.
