Mahwah, NJ: The Roadrunners posted a 2-0 win today over the Panthers of SUNY Old Westbury in a non-conference men's soccer match-up at the Athletic Center. Sophomore transfer
Jonathan Henriques (Harrison, NJ) scored both of the team's goals leading the Roadrunners to their fourth win of the year (4-3). SUNY Old Westbury falls to 3-3.
Ramapo dominated the play in the first half taking 19 shots, but Old Westbury's Darian Bryan (Elmont, NY) made nine saves holding the Roadrunners to a scoreless first 45 minutes.
Henriques connected on a pass from sophomore
Giuseppe Nicola Trani (Wayne, NJ) at 54:33 giving the Roadrunners a 1-0 edge, and a pass from
Benjamin Eggart (Paterson, NJ) at 67:30, gave the Roadrunners a 2-0 lead. The goals were Henriques first two of the season.
Bryan stopped six more shots in the second half for a total 15 saves in the game. Junior
Ian Tighe (Wyckoff, NJ) blocked three shots for Ramapo earning his fourth shut out of the year, 4-2.
The Roadrunners took a total 35 shots in the game while the Panthers took three.
Ramapo opens the 2008 NJAC season on Saturday, September 20th when they face the Scarley Raiders of Rutgers Newark at home at 1:00 PM.
