WESTERN CONNECTICUT TAKES WIN OVER RAMAPO, 12-7

Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College women's lacrosse team dropped a tough 12-7 decision to the Colonials of Western Connecticut today at the Athletic Center to fall to1-8 overall. With the victory, Western Connecticut improves to 3-12.

Sarah Clayton (Howell, NJ), who scored three goals in the game for Ramapo, opened the scoring just under two minutes into the game to give the Roadrunners a 1-0 edge. Jessica Majeski (Norwalk, CT) tied the game just one minute later on a unassisted goal before Kara Kruczkiewicz (Brookfield, CT) gave Western Connecticut a 2-1 lead with an unassisted goal of her own at 4:20. The Colonials would lead for the remainder of the game taking a 6-4 advantage at the intermission. Whitney Farchild (New Milford, CT), Ashley Caruso (Northport, CT), and Kruczkiewicz, all added goals for the Colonials in the first half of play while Clayton put in two more for Ramapo, and Jenna Pfarr (Cranford, NJ) added another.

In the final half of the game, Western Connecticut out scored Ramapo, 5-3 to take the 12-7 victory in the non-conference match-up. Farchild put two in the back of the net while Caitlin Everin (Glastonbury, CT) recorded three of her own. Ramapo's Pfarr, Casandra Hartline (Kinnelon, NJ) and Melody Oostdk (West Milford, NJ) all earned points for Ramapo.

Sophomore goalkeeper Angela Vargas (Stonington, CT) recorded the win playing the full 60 minutes, blocking four Ramapo shots. Megan Tierney (Wayne, NJ) let up all 12 goals in the game and stopped 16. Western Connecticut out shot Ramapo, 45-18 on the day.

Ramapo takes on Kean University on Wednesday, April 23rd at 4:00 PM in Union, NJ.
