Men's Soccer

ROADRUNNERS HOLD ONTO 1-0 WIN WITH STONE'S LONE GOAL

Hackettstown, NJ:  Justin Stone's (Marlboro, NJ) goal in the first half was enough to give the Ramapo College men's soccer team the 1-0 win over Centenary this afternoon. With the win, Ramapo improves to 7-8-2 overall while Centenary falls to 9-6-1.

In the opening half of action, both teams were struggling to put together offensive chances until the junior midfielder, Stone, connected on a pass from rookie James Gibson (Vernon, NJ) to give the Roadrunners a 1-0 edge.  Gibson received a ball out wide and was able to serve it across finding the foot of the Stone, who beat the keeper, scoring his first goal of the season with just under two minutes to play in the half.

After the intermission, the two teams played 45 minutes of scoreless soccer ending the second half the same as the first, 1-0 to Ramapo.

Junior netminder Ian Tighe (Wyckoff, NJ) played the full 90 minutes for the shut out, blocking three shots in net.  The Roadrunners out shot centenary, 19-10.

Ramapo returns to action on Saturday, October 25th when they travel to NJAC rival TCNJ at 1:00PM.
