Women's Basketball Rowan SID

ROWAN DEFEATS RAMAPO, 66-41

GLASSBORO, NJ – Forward Jessica Nimbley scored 21 points and grabbed nine rebounds to lead Rowan University over Ramapo College, 66-41 in a New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) game on Saturday.

Nimbley's (so. Middletown, NJ/St. John Vianney) 21 points was a career-high. She was six for 12 from the floor and nine for 11 from the line. Forward Jillian Kane (so. Ridgefield Park, NJ/Ridgefield Park) contributed with 19 points and five rebounds. Forward Ashley Cipelicki (jr. Haworth, NJ/Dumont) added nine points. Guard Kristina Wallace (sr. Logan Twp., NJ/Clearview Reg.) totaled five assists and six steals.

Rowan is 11-6 overall and 4-2 in the conference. Ramapo drops to 3-14 on the season and 0-6 in the NJAC. For the Roadrunners, guard Lauren Moschel (jr. Fair Lawn, NJ/St. Mary) scored 12 points. Forward Beth Weinmann (so. Pompton Plains, NJ/Pequannock) pulled down a game-high 17 boards.

Rowan started the second half with a five point lead. Guard Brynn DeGroff (jr. Wildwood Crest, NJ/Wildwood) made a layup at 17:12 that put Rowan up 31-24. Ramapo guard Malika Gilliam (so. Roselle, NJ/Abraham Clark) cut the deficit to five (35-30) with at basket at 12:39. The Profs pulled away with 12 unanswered points in a three minute span for a 17 point advantage (47-30). Kane contributed with seven points. Nimbley's layup gave the Profs a 27 point lead (61-34) with 5:24 remaining. It was Rowan's biggest margin of the game.

The Roadrunners started the game with a 4-1 run in the first 1:21. Rowan scored eight straight points to lead 9-4 at 15:21. Cieplicki had two baskets in the run while Nimbley and DeGroff added one apiece. Ramapo pulled within one point (9-8) at 13:41 on Moschel's three-pointer. Nimbley hit a jumper that put the Profs back up by five (13-8) with 12:45 remaining. Guard Chelsea Wolf's (fr. Montville, NJ/Montville) layup pulled the Roadrunners within one point (13-12) at 10:26. With 6:41 left, Rowan was up 20-14. Ramapo had a 6-1 surge and trailed by one (21-20) at 2:55. Weinmann had four of the six points. The Profs ended the period with two free throws by Kane for a five point advantage (27-22) at the intermission.

Rowan travels to Kean University on Wednesday, January 30 for a 6 p.m. conference game.
