Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College women's soccer team earned a 3-0 victory today over the Golden Eagles of St. Joe's Patchogue in a non-conference match-up in Mahwah. With the win the Roadrunners head into Wednesday's match-up with FDU, away at 4:30 PM standing at 3-0-1 overall. St. Joe's falls to 1-2.
The Roadrunners jumped out to a quick lead when sophomore
Shana Egan (Pearl River, NY) posted what turned out to be the game winner just under three minutes into the game. The goal gave Ramapo a 1-0 edge and came unassisted. The goal was Egan's third of the year totaling six points so far during the 2006 season. Ramapo followed with a second goal at 20:15 which came from senior midfielder
Meghan Farrell (Monroe Township, NJ), unassisted, her third of the year, for a 2-0 halftime lead.
In the final half of play, the Roadrunners posted an insurance goal at 87:51. The goal, her second of the year, was netted by junior
Chrissy Giordano (Oakland, NJ). Ramapo held St. Joe's in the final minutes earning the 3-0 shutout victory.
Ramapo posted 16 shots in the match-up while rookie goalkeeper Dana Carney (Patchogue, NY) and Alyssa Cote (Smithtown, NY) of St. Joe's shared time in front of the net tallying eight saves. Ramapo's
Samantha Gribben (Pequannock, NJ) and
Jessica DaRold (Sayreville, NJ) also shared minutes posting seven saves and the shared shutout.
