RAMAPO CROWNED 2004-2005 ROADRUNNER TIP-OFF CHAMPIONS

Mahwah , NJ : The Ramapo College women's basketball team was crowned 2004-2005 Roadrunner Tip-Off Tournament Champions today dropping the Lions of Lincoln University, 60-43. Ramapo improves to 2-0 overall while Lincoln falls to 1-1.

Senior JANINE CAPPADONA (Atlantic Highlands, NJ ) knocked in 13 points today with seven assists and five rebounds leading the team to their second victory of the year. Junior VANESSA VARGAS (Union City, NJ ) recorded 13 points of her own shooting 5-14 from the field. VARGAS added five rebounds for the team. DANIELLE HUNT (Englewood, NJ) and KATIE FEELEY (Scotch Plains, NJ) tallied eight and seven points respectively and rookie ALISON BELLER (Morris Plains, NJ) shot 3-5 from the field for six points. BELLER also pulled down nine boards in the win.

For Lincoln, Mary Rotimi (Philadelphia, PA) led the team with 12 points and nine rebounds while Naima Spradley (Brooklyn, NY) and Arione Murray (Mount Vernon, NY) posted six points a piece. Natasha James (Philadelphia, PA ) recorded four rebounds and three steals in the loss.

In the consolation match-up, Arcadia University defeated SUNY Old Westbury, 77-63 earning a third place in the 2004-2005 Roadrunner Tip-Off Tournament. Arcadia 's Stephanie Bates (Philadelphia, PA ) led the Knights posting 26 points shooting 7-11 from the field, 12-13 from the line. Bates grabbed eight steals while adding six assists. Ashley Vandiver (Philadelphia, NJ ) recorded her second double-double of the tournament sinking 18 poinst with 11 rebounds. Caitlin Sparks (Harleysville, PA ) recorded 13 points of her own shooting 4-12 from the field, 5-6 from the line. For SUNY Old Westbury, Christina Squillante (Levittstown) and Rachele Yambeye (Elmont ) led the teameach recording double-doubles with 15 points and 16 rebounds and ten points and 13 rebounds respectively.
