Mahwah, NJ: The Roadrunners of Ramapo College were named 2004 President's Classic Champions today at the Athletic Center improving to 3-0 overall.
Game 2: RAMAPO 8 – MEDGAR EVERS 0: The Roadrunners of Ramapo College improved to 3-0 today at the Athletic Center as the defeated the Cougars of Medgar Evers, 8-0. Medgar Evers falls to 0-2 for the year. Sophomore transfer WILL MAZZUTO (Saddle River , NJ ) hit the back of the net at 11:28 off a corner from NORM CROCHETIERE (Hamilton , NJ ). CROCHETIERE set up NICK MATAYA (West Paterson , NJ ) at 13:10 and 20:39 giving the Roadrunners a 3-0 edge. Sophomore JOSH TAYLOR (Hackensack , NJ ) added a fourth with just over a minute remaining in the first half giving Ramapo a 4-0 halftime lead. At 69:34 in the game, senior MATT CHESTER (Hamilton, NJ) connected with JAMIE BIWALD (Stratford, NJ) and sophomore ARTURO MOREIRA (Lodi, NJ) recorded one of his own at 71:58 to take a 6-0 lead. JUSTIN REYNOLDS (Hackettstown , NJ ) and rookie J STEINHAUER (West Windsor , NJ ) connected with sophomore SEAN FALLS (Long Valley , NJ ) at 82:25 and 86:05 respectively dropping the Cougars, 8-0 in Mahwah.
PATRICK JAGODZINSKI (Lebanon , NJ ) and MATT MAZZA (Woodbridge , NJ ) split time in front of the net earning the win, recording zero saves. Carl Thompson posted 15 saves in the loss.
Game 1: POLYTECHNIC 2 – JOHN JAY 1: The Fighting Blue Jays of Polytechnic University dropped the Bloodhounds of John Jay, 2-1 today in the first on the final two games of the President's Classic in Mahwah. Polytechnic improves to 2-0 for the year while John Jay drops to 0-2.
Jarriot Huddleston put the Fighting Blue Jays on the board in the 17th minute off a pass from Mamdou Djourthe giving Polytechnic a 1-0 lead. Slawomir Balon tied the game at 23:02 and Huddleston netted the game winner at 53:08, unassisted. Shane Norbet of John Jay blocked three shots in 90 minutes while Ivan Pajaro recorded three saves of his own. Despite the loss, John Jay out shot Polytechnic, 18-9.
The Roadrunners will travel to FDU Florham on Wednesday, September 8th at 3:30 PM.
