RAMAPO SQUEEZES BY MONTCLAIR , 63-58

Mahwah , NJ : The Ramapo College women's basketball team played host to conference rival Montclair State University tonight at the Bradley Center in Mahwah recording a 63-58 victory. The Roadrunners improve to 5-2, 2-2 in the New Jersey Athletic Conference while the Red Hawks fall to 4-3 overall, 2-2 in the conference.

Both teams battled for the lead in the first six minutes of play but at the 14:05 mark, Ramapo tied the game at ten with a jumper by sophomore KEONA PALMER (Port Reading, NJ) and JANINE CAPPADONA (Atlantic Highlands, NJ) gave Ramapo a one point lead with a good free throw starting a 16-6 Roadrunner run for a nine point lead with six minutes left in the half. Montclair answered with a 10-0 run taking a 1-0 lead with 1:38 left to go. CAPPADONA shot a perfect 3-3 from the three-point arc sinking ten points giving the Roadrunners a one point, 28-27 halftime lead.

In the last 20 minutes of play, Montclair jumped out to a four point lead just over three minutes into the half before Ramapo grabbed the lead back at 13:09 with a jumper by junior DANIELLE HUNT (Englewood, NJ ). The Roadrunners never turned back leading by as many as nine in the half. CAPPADONA netted another 12 points in the second leading Ramapo to their fifth victory of the 2004-2005 season.

CAPPADONA finished the game with 22 points shooting 5-10 from the field, 9-14 from the free throw line. CAPPADONA also dished out two assists while grabbing two steals in the win. PALMER recorded 14 points while recording eight total rebounds and HUNT sunk sink points and recorded seven boards.

For the Red Hawks, Stephanie Machin (New Providence, NJ ) recorded a team-high 24 points while adding eight rebounds and three steals. Junior Amanda Mullaney (Brooklyn, NY ) netted 12 points and rookie Jessica Garrabrant (Denville, NJ ) posted 12 rebounds for the team.

Ramapo shot 20-52 (39%) over Montclair 's 21-61 (34%).

Ramapo will travel to Medgar Evers on Saturday, December 11th for a 6:00 PM start wrapping up their 2004 season while Montclair travels to CCNY for a 2:15 PM start time.
