SCARLET RAPTORS OUTLAST ROADRUNNERS, 62-49 IN OVERTIME

Mahwah , NJ : The Ramapo College women's basketball team fell to Rutgers Camden today 62-49 at the Bradley Center, located in Mahwah. Ramapo falls to 4-2 overall, 1-3 in the New Jersey Athletic Conference while Rutgers Camden improves to 2-4 overall, 1-3 in the conference.

The Roadrunners jumped out in the first half to 19-12 lead before the Scarlet Raptors stormed back to cut the lead to four, 22-18, at the half. The Roadrunners caught fire in the second half opening to a 14 point lead, 36-22, with twelve minutes remaining in the game. The Scarlet Raptors then went on a 19-2 run of their own to take their first lead since four minutes into the game. The run was capped by Kelly Stafford (Gloucester City, NJ ) who hit a three-point shot to give the Raptors the edge, 39-36. Each team battled its way to a 46-46 tie at the end of regulation. The Raptors roared out in overtime taking a 54-48 lead with two minutes remaining. The Raptors' overtime energy proved to be too much for Ramapo as they outscored the Roadrunners 16-3.

The Raptors 33% (20-61) from the field trumped the Roadrunners 28% (14-71). Ramapo was led by VANESSA VARGAS' (Union City, NJ ) 11 points, including 8-8 from the free throw line. VARGAS grabbed 14 rebounds and dished out nine assists in the loss. DANIELLE HUNT (Englewood, NJ ) chipped in seven points and six rebounds. The Scarlet Raptors were led by Megan Rulon (Sewell, NJ ) netting a game high 14 points. She also pulled down 11 rebounds. Lisa Geiger (Gloucester, NJ ) added ten points of her own, while matching VARGAS on the glass with 14 rebounds.

The Roadrunners are back in action Wednesday, December 8th, as they host the Red Hawks of Montclair State University at5:30 PM.
