VARGAS NETS A CAREER-HIGH 36 IN ROADRUNNERS’ 95-75 NJAC WIN OVER THE SCARLET RAPTORS

Mahwah, NJ: Sophomore VANESSA VARGAS (Union City, NJ) netted 31 points in the first half dropping nine three-pointers leading the Roadrunners to their 11th victory of the season, 95-75 over Rutgers Camden. Ramapo improves to 11-8 overall, 3-5 in the New Jersey Athletic Conference while Rutgers Camden falls to 7-12 overall, 2-6 in the conference.

Ramapo led by as many as 23 in the game ending the first 20 minutes up 48-29 over Rutgers Camden. VARGAS finished the game with a career-high 36 points shooting 12-17 from the floor, 10-13 from three point range. Senior STEPHANIE PILLARI (Westwood, NJ) netted 18 (7-14) of her own while grabbing ten rebounds for her 3rd double-double of the season. Fellow senior guard KATIE ARCURI (Staten Island, NY) dropped 14 points and junior JANINE CAPPADONA (Atlantic Highlands, NJ) and sophomore KELLY BARTZ (Madison, NJ) added 12 and ten points respectively. PILLARI dished out a team-high six assists while CAPPADONA added four. The Roadrunners shot 28-60 (47%) from the floor, 16-26 (62%) from behind the arc.

Megan Rulon (Sewell, NJ) led the Raptors shooting 8-13 from the floor for 19 points. Rulon grabbed 12 rebounds while Crystal Lucas (West Deptford, NJ) followed with six. Kelly Stafford (Gloucester, NJ) netted 12 points for the team and Lucas added 11 in the match-up. Senior point guard Erin James (Gloucester, NJ) dished out a team-high nine assists. The Scarlet Raptors shot 30-66 (46%) from the floor while shooting 4-19 (21%) from behind the arc.

Ramapo will host NJAC rival Kean University on Wednesday, February 4th at 5:30 PM.
