RAMAPO TIPS-OFF 2003-2004 SEASON IN MAHWAH

Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College women's basketball team hosted their annual Roadrunner Tip-Off Tournament tonight in Mahwah opening their 2003-2004 season. The Roadrunners defeated the Eagles of the College of St. Elizabeth, 71-56 in the opening game while Lincoln University downed Lehman College, 72-48. Ramapo stands at 1-0 and St. Elizabeth falls to 0-1 while Lehman falls to 0-1 and Lincoln opens their season 1-0.

Game One: Junior JANINE CAPPADONA (Atlantic Highlands, NJ) led the Roadrunners shooting 8-12 from the floor for 19 points while adding five total rebounds and six assists in the first game of the night. Sophomore KELLY BARTZ (Madison, NJ) recorded 16 points, 6-11 from the floor. Rookie KEONA PALMER (Port Reading, NJ) added 14 points and six boards for the team while senior captains KATIE ARCURI (Staten Island, NY) and STEPHANIE PILLARI (Westwood, NJ) added eight and five points respectively. ARCURI dished out five assists and grabbed seven rebounds and PILLARI dished out seven assists with nine total boards.

For the Eagles, Caitlin Sendell (Sea Girt, NJ) led the team with 16 points while Mary Kate Lanzo (Caldwell, NJ) netted ten of her own. Sendell grabbed a total eight boards and Lanzo pulled down three. Malissa Doster (Dover, NJ) led the Eagles with ten rebounds, four offensive and six defensive.

The Roadrunners shot 38.8% from the floor behind St. Elizabeth's 41.9%.

Game Two: Rayshonna Hill (Brooklyn, NY) led Lincoln posting 26 points shooting 11-15 from the floor. Hill grabbed nine steals in the match while Altoria Spann (Philadelphia, PA) grabbed nine of her own. Lincoln combined for a total 40 steals over Lehman's 11. Spann and Mary Rotimi (Philadelphia, PA) each added ten points for the Lady Lions.

For Lehman, Paulette Baldwin (Trenton, NJ) led the way recording 17 points and eight rebounds while Monet Pledger (Flagler, FL) netted ten points of her own.

Lincoln University will play Ramapo College tomorrow in the final game at 3:00 PM and Lehman will face St. Elizabeth in a consolation match-up at 1:00 PM.
