Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College women's basketball team faced the Lady Red Hawks of Montclair State University today at the Athletic Center. The Roadrunners fell short to Montclair, 54-55 dropping to 9-7 overall and 4-5 in the NJAC, while the Red Hawks improve to 8-6 overall and 4-5 in the conference.
Ramapo held the lead until 11:10 in the second half, when a jump shot by Montclair's Amy Snyder (Cranford, NJ) tied it 38-38. Montclair then took control leading by seven with 6:46 left in the game. The Lady Roadrunner's battled back to lead 54-52 until a three point shot sunk by Red Hawk Erin Schultz (West Milford, NJ) with four seconds left to push Montclair over Ramapo, 54-55.
For the Lady Roadrunners STEPHANIE PILLIARI (Westwood, NJ) scored 15 points and pulled down eight rebounds. CARLA COLUCCI (Emerson, NJ) contributed 12 points, while VANESSA VARGAS (Union City, NJ) added in eight of her own. VARGAS also posted eight rebounds. KATIE ARCURI (Staten Island, NY) recorded seven rebounds and four assists.
For Montclair, both Ebony Allen (Camden, NJ) and Dyette Dillard (Willingboro, NJ) scored a team high 13 points. Stephanie Croley (Plainfield, NJ) had 12 rebounds and chipped in five points. Schultz, Synder, and Jasmine Batts (Carteret, NJ) all added in eight points a piece.
The Roadrunners will play host to The College of New Jersey on Saturday, January 25th at 1:30 PM at the Athletic Center.
