RAMAPO SWEEPS RUTGERS NEWARK, 8-0 & 14-1

Mahwah, NJ: Both games ended short as Ramapo overpowered Rutgers Newark in doubleheader action in Mahwah. The Roadrunners downed the Scarlet Raiders, 8-0 and 14-1, to improve to 22-9 overall, 8-4 NJAC. The Scarlet Raiders fall to 4-20 overall, 0-12 NJAC.

Game 1: The Roadrunners took a 1-0 lead in the 4th when JACKIE MORRIS (Wanaque, NJ) drove in sophomore MICHELLE MICKLOS (Tuxedo, NY) who reached on an error to get on base. The team added two more in the 5th and five more in the 6th to end the game one inning early with an 8-0 victory.

Junior LAURA GERMANO (Park Ridge, NJ) went 2-4 with two RBI and one run scored while senior KELLY-ANN DIGIULIO (Mahwah, NJ) went 2-2 with one RBI and one run. MORRIS scored one and rookie ALICIA CRUZ (East Brunswick, NJ) posted two of her own in the win.

MICKLOS recorded her 4th win of the season today striking out ten and walking one in six innings pitched.

For the Scarlet Raiders, Jenna Weiss (Livingston, NJ) went 1-2 while pitcher Tanya Spampinato (Cranford, NJ) struck out none and walked none.

Game 2: The Roadrunners took an 11-0 lead in the 1st and never looked back. The team posted 14 runs on 14 hits in the 14-1 win over the Scarlet Raiders. SHELLIE GUIDER (Jefferson, NJ), KIM VULCANO (Bayonne, NJ), GERMANO, and MORRIS all posted two runs in the game while KELLY KERNAN (San Diego, CA), JAMIE ANZALDI (Clifton, NJ), COLLEEN MILLER (Jefferson, NJ), LAUREN DATHE (Cedar Knolls, NJ), KATE LEVIN (Barnegat, NJ), and MICKLOS, each added one of their own. GUIDER went 3-4 and CRUZ went 2-2 with three RBI in the win.

Sophomore pitcher ANZALDI recorded her 15th win of the season with three strikeouts and zero walks.

Spampinato drove in one hitting 1-2 scoring Rutgers Newark's only run by Melissa Rivera (Newark, NJ). Spampinato struck out one and walked one in two innings.

The Roadrunners will host Drew University on Thursday, April 18th at 3:30 PM.
