Montclair, NJ: The Montclair State University women's lacrosse team defeated Ramapo College tonight in NJAC action, 19-6. The Red Hawks move to 4-4 overall and 1-1 in the NJAC while the Roadrunners now stand at 5-7 overall and 0-1 in the league.
MSU posted three goals to start the first quarter before
Bethany Glaser put the Roadrunners on the board with a goal at 5:21 in the quarter. The goal was assisted by
Erin Smeilus. The Red Hawks posted three more goals in the first which continued in the second with two more goals for an 8-1 lead. Ramapo added their second goal with 1:58 remaining as
Lexi Callari tallied an unassisted goal. MSU added eight more goals in the third as Ramaop added one from
Meri Cassidy, unassisted with 10:34 on the clock as MSU led, 10-3. In the fourth, Smeilus tallied back-to-back goals for the Roadrunners while Callari added her second off a pass from
Kassidy Baez. The Red Hawks also added three goals to their tally in the fourth as they held onto the 19-6 win.
Callari and Smeilus each put in two goals for the Roadrunners while Cassidy led the way with three ground balls and four draw controls. On defense,
Ashley Czeczuga recorded four caused turnovers while
Bethany Glaser added two along with two draw controls.
Daniella Indomenico posted 12 saves in the game for the Roadrunners.
Ramapo returns to action on Saturday, April 11th when they host #16 Rowan University in NJAC action. The Roadrunners will honor their senior class in a pre-game ceremony.
