Mahwah, NJ:  The College of New Jersey softball team defeated Ramapo College this afternoon in NJAC action, 2-0 in game one and 3-1 in game two. The Lions improve to 19-9 overall and 8-2 in the NJAC while the Roadrunners now stand at 24-7 overall and 8-2 in the league.

Game #1: TCNJ 2, Ramapo 0
The Roadrunners were shutout for just the second time this season as TCNJ starting pitcher Maya Knasiak (12-2 overall) kept the Ramapo bats in check. Knasiak fired a two-hitter with seven strikeouts and two walks. The Lions got on the board late in the game in the fifth inning as Gianna Vazquez drove in Olivia Santos with an RBI single, 1-0. In the sixth, Knasiak gave herself an insurance run as she belted a solo home run to right-center field for the 2-0 lead. For the Roadrunners, Gabby Morgan (8-3) suffered the loss in the circle as she struck out four, walked one and surrendered eight hits and two runs. Clay'le Correa-Vanness and Alex Hastings each recorded a hit for Ramapo.

Game #2: TCNJ 3, Ramapo 1
TCNJ scored two unearned runs in the top of the first inning before Ramapo scored one run in the fifth to cut the lead in half. Correa-Vanness drove in Madison Groschel-Klein with an RBI single to shrink the TCNJ lead, 2-1. The Lions would get out of a two-out jam in the fifth as Ramapo loaded the bases as they induced a fielder's choice putout to third base to end the threat. TCNJ added an insurance run in the top of the sixth as Emily Evans drove in Morgan Leonhauser, 3-1. Leonhauser drew a one out walk and stole second earlier in the inning.

Elizabeth Gosse (4-3) would shut down the Roadrunners the remainder of the game to earn the win. Gosse struck out two, walked one and surrendered five hits and one run.
