Newburgh, NY: The Ramapo College women's lacrosse team earned at 15-6 win over Mount Saint Mary College today in non-conference action. The Roadrunners improve to 3-2 overall while the Knights now stand at 1-3 on the season.
The Roadrunners scored five goals in the first quarter to take a 5-0 lead. Bethay Glaser got the rally started with a goal at 13:05 off a pass from
Darrien Pennachio.
Erin Smeilus added an unassisted goal before Glaser connected with
Kassidy Baez to go up 3-0.
Leah Whitney scored unassisted at 9:02 before Baez took a pass from
Meri Cassidy for the team's fifth goal at 8:24. Ramapo scored five more goals in the second as they held MSMC to just one goal for a 10-1 lead at the half. Smeilus scored off a pass from Baez to open the second quarter before Kaitlin Hansen put one in the back of the net for MSMC. Cassidy added two goals while Glaser and
Lexi Callari each tallied goals to wrap up the second quarter. Glaser once again scored to start the third quarter with 11:09 on the clock off a pass from Pennachio before Smeilus connected on a pass from
Jada Oddo (7:50). The Knights added two goals before Smeilus scored to make it a 10-goal lead with just nine second remaining, 13-3. Oddo and Smeilus each scored for Ramapo in the fourth while the Knights put three more goals in the back of the net as Ramapo took the game, 15-6.
Smeilus led the way with five goals in today's game along with four draw controls and one caused turnover. Glaser posted four goals for four points which gives her 100 career points as a Roadrunner. She also tallied four draw controls and one caused turnover. Baez led the team with five assists while recording two ground balls and one goal.
Ashley Czeczuga posted four caused turnovers to lead the team while adding two ground balls.
Daniella Indomenico posted five saves in the cage for the Roadrunners
Ramapo returns to action in the Sunshine State on March 18th when they take on Framingham State University (11am EST) in Panama City Beach, Florida at the Spring Fling.
