Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College women's volleyball team took down Rutgers-Camden University tonight in a thrilling five-set match, 3-2 (25-20, 17-25, 17-25, 25-22, 16-14). The Roadrunners open up NJAC play with a 1-0 record while they move to 7-2 on the season overall. The Scarlet Raptors drop to 3-7 overall and 0-1 in the conference.
Asya Akar led the Roadrunners with 22 kills while hitting .429 in the match. Akar also posted two aces and 16 digs.
Valentina Palen put down 17 kills while
Jasmine Rolle added eight in the match. Palen added 14 digs while Rolle posted three solo blocks and one dig.
Emma Garcia led the team on defense with 21 digs while recording five assists and one kill.
Katie Bishop dished out a team high 50 assists while she posted three kills, six digs and one ace.
Natalya Polkowski also posted double digit digs with ten while adding two kills and two blocks.
Jalen Lacy put down seven kills on 13 attempts with just one error to hit .462 as she added two blocks and two digs.
The Scarlet Raptors were led by Sofia Granieri who tallied 12 kills and six digs while Taylor White added ten kills, one block and one dig. Avery Ang contributed with nine kills, six aces and 11 digs. Mia Owens led the way with 23 digs while adding two aces and four assists. JoAnna Andrews collected a team high 29 assists while Ang posted 12 of her own in the match. The team collected 51 kills in the match on 159 attempts with 22 errors.
The Roadrunners return to action on September 25th when they travel to Drew University with a non-conference match set for 7:00 PM.
