New York, NY: The Ramapo College women's volleyball team split a pair of matches on the road with a win over Old Westbury, 3-0 (25-9, 27-25, 25-18) and a tough loss to host John Jay College, 3-0 (25-20, 25-16, 25-21). The Roadrunners now stand at 6-2 overall.
Old Westbury Match
The Roadrunners earned a 3-0 win over the Panthers (1-2 overall) as
Natalya Polkowski led the way with 13 kills while adding three digs.
Asya Akar posted nine kills, five aces, two digs and one block while
Valentina Palen collected six kills, three aces and six digs. On defense,
Alyssa Edmond led the way with 10 digs while she dished out a team high 26 assists. The team hit .287 overall with 40 kills on 87 attempts and 15 errors.
For the Panthers, Nicole Zugnoni tallied five kills while Paige Herbert posted three. Stephanie Velez posted four aces while Stephanie Samulde and Katia Gomez each added five assists. On defense, Velez led the way with seven digs.
John Jay Match
Akar led the Roadrunners with 12 kills while she added one ace and one block with eight digs. Palen posted seven kills, one assist and three digs while
Katie Bishop led the way with 24 assists. The team recorded 28 kills on 89 attempts with 21 errors.
For the Bloodhounds, Jadyn Orava hit .414 with a team high 16 kills on 29 attempts with just four errors. Madison Mullan added seven kills, five aces and five total blocks (3 solo). Lizbeth Martinez and Theresa Schmitt posted 12 and 11 digs respectively to lead the team on defense. The team hit .179 in the match with 30 kills on 84 attempts with 15 errors.
The Roadrunners open up NJAC play on Tuesday, Sept. 23rd at home when host Rutgers-Camden University at the Bradley Center at 7pm.
