Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College field hockey team scored in each quarter today in their season opener to defeat Manhattanville University, 6-0.
First-year head coach,
Rachel McHale, earned her first career coaching victory this afternoon as the Roadrunners poured in six goals.
Abigail DeYoung scored her first collegiate goal to put Ramapo on the board in the first quarter off an assist from
Ana Plaia. In the second quarter,
Victoria Chavez scored off a penalty stroke before De Young and Plaia teamed up once again to push the score to 3-0.
In the third, Chavez scored her second goal of the game off as Plaia and
Kayla Gray each earned an assist.
Eliana Momm scored an unassisted goal in the final five minutes of action for the 6-0 score. Ramapo tallied 13 penalty corners while the Valiants posted eight.
Sam Fried earned the win in the cage for the Roadrunners as she posted two saves in 55:52 minutes of action.
Emily Getz also tallied two saves in the final 4:08 of the game.
Ramapo (1-0 overall) returns to action on Sept. 6th when they travel to The University of Saint Joseph in West Hartford, CT for a 12pm game time.
