Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College softball team won a pair of NJAC games today over visiting Rutgers-Newark University. The Roadrunners (23-4, 7-3 NJAC) won game one, 12-0 in five innings while they took game two, 5-2. The Scarlet Raptors move to 11-17 overall and 1-11 in the NJAC.
Game One: Ramapo 12, Rutgers-Newark 0 | 5-innings
The Roadrunners pounded out 15 hits in game one as they scored 12 runs.
Katie Rygiel got Ramapo on the board in the bottom of the first with a solo home run over the left field wall, 1-0.
Lia Milsom singled with one out in the second inning and stole second before Rygiel drove her in with an RBI double, 2-0. Ramapo plated eight runs in the third inning on eight hits.

Ysabellah Otero drove her in with an RBI double to center field, 3-0.
Alex Hastings walked before she and Otero moved up on a wild pitch before
Hannah Hensler picked up two RBI with a hard-hit single to right field, 5-0. Hensler moved up on a pass ball before
Emily Ehrmann and Milsom recorded back-to-back hits to plate Hensler, 6-0. Clay'le Correa-Vanness put down a bunt single to load the bases before Rygiel cleared them with a line drive double to left field, 9-0. Later in the inning, Hastings drilled a single up the middle to plate Rygiel for the 10-0 score. In the fourth, Gargiulo plated the final two runs for the Roadrunners with a two-out two RBI double as Milsom and Rygiel each scored, 12-0.
Marissa DiPaolo (11-2) struck out four, walked none, and scattered two hits in five complete innings of work to earn the win in the circle for Ramapo. Rygiel finished 4-4 with three runs scored and five RBI while Gargiulo, Otero, Hastings, Milsom all collected two hits.
Game Two: Ramapo 5, Rutgers-Newark 2
Milsom led off the third, drawing a walk before stealing second, then third base before Correa-Vanness also walked and stole second. Rygiel then drove in Milsom with an RBI groundout to get on the board, 1-0. With two outs in the inning, Gargiulo lifted a sac fly to center field, which allowed Correa-Vanness to come home to score 2-0. In the fourth, Hastings doubled to lead off the inning before Hensler singled to right field to plate Hastings. The Scarlet Raiders misplayed the ball in the outfield, which allowed Hensler to advance to third on the play before Correa-Vanness drove her in with an infield single, 4-0. Ramapo added their final run of the game in the fifth when Milsom beat out an infield single to plate Otero, 5-0. In the top of the seventh, Destiny Maury recorded a pinch-hit two-run home run to put the Scarlet Raiders on the board.

Brooke Knight induced a strikeout and flyout to end the game to secure the 5-2 win. Knight (5-1) struck out five, walked none, and scattered seven hits over 4.2 innings of relief work.
Kassy Stefanski started the game in the circle for the Roadrunners, pitching into the third inning with one out. She struck out five, walked none, and let up just two hits.
The Roadrunners return to action on Thursday, April 17th when they travel to #2 ranked Rowan University for a pair of NJAC games starting at 2:30pm.
