Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College softball team pushed their win streak to six games with a sweep over Hunter College. The Roadrunners improve to 14-1 overall while the Hawks fall to 5-11 overall.
Game One | Ramapo 5, Hunter 0
Kassy Stefanski took a no-hitter into the top of the seventh inning before surrendering two hits. Stefanski (6-0) struck out 11 and walked just one in the shutout victory. Ramapo scored one run in the first as
Alex Hastings scored on a sac fly from Yasbellah Otero. In the third inning Hastings and
Katie Rygiel each scored following a Hunter error before
Hannah Hensler knocked in
Rebecca Airel with a RBI single, 4-0. Otero lifte a sac fly in the fourth to once again plate Hastings to extend the lead, 5-0.
Game Two | Ramapo 7, Hunter 0
Hunter scored their only run of the game in the top of the first inning before Ramapo tied the game in the bottom of the inning. Airel plated Hastings with an RBI double to right field, 1-1. In the second,
Sonali Rodriguez collected two RBI with a hard-hit single which allowed Hensler and
Lia Milsom to score, 3-1. Otero singled home Rygiel in the fourth before Gargiulo plated Hastings in the sixth inning. Ramapo scored the final run in the sixth as
Sophia Diaz plated Airel with an RBI fielder's choice, 6-1.
Marissa DiPaolo (6-1) struck out four, walked none and surrendered just two hits and one run (unearned) in the game. Hastings finished 4-4 with two runs scored while Gargiulo finished 2-3 with one RBI.
The Roadrunners open up NJAC play on Saturday on the road at the College of New Jersey. Please note the new game one start time of 1:30pm.
