Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College women's lacrosse team defeated Mount Saint Mary College tonight at the Athletic Center Turf Field, 15-11. The Roadrunners improve to 4-2 overall while the Knights now stand at 3-5 on the year.
The Knights took a 2-1 lead in the first quarter before Ramapo tied the game late in the second. MSMC posted three straight goals early in the second before
Bethany Glaser and
Lauren Travaglini hit the back of the net to come within one, 4-5. The Knights scored to take a 6-4 lead before
Erin Smeilus scored back-to-back goals to tie the game, 6-6. In the third, Ramapo added five more goals to take an 11-6 lead.
Leah Whitney, Smeilus,
Kassidy Baez each scored before Glaser added two. MSMC added one more goal in the third by Delisianna Naccarato before Travaglini took a pass from Baez to wrap up the third for a 12-7 lead. The duo paired up once again in the fourth before the Knights put in three straight goals to come within three of tying the game, 10-13.
Esme Espinosa added two goals for the Roadrunners in the final minutes, the second assisted by Glaser while Karlie Ferrucci put in the final goal for the Knights.
Glaser and Smeilus led the Roadrunners with four goals each while Glaser added one assist and five draw controls. Travaglini tallied three goals, one caused turnover and five draw controls while Baez led the way with five assists in the game.
Daniella Indomenico posted five saves in the first 39:33 of the game.
Alyssa Curto collected two saves in the final 20:27 which gives her 305 career saves. Curto is now third all-time in program history in career saves.
The Roadrunners will return to action on March 29th when they travel to FDU-Florham for a non-conference game at 10:00am.
