Farmingdale, NY: The Farmingdale State College women's lacrosse team defeated Ramapo College tonight in non-conference action, 13-9. The Rams move to 1-3 overall while the Roadrunners now stand at 4-2 on the year.
The Rams got four goals on the board in the first quarter before the Roadrunners put in two of their own to wrap up the quarter.
Leah Whitney scored off a pass from
Erin Smeilus before Smeilus tallied her 13th goal of the season as
Jada Oddo earned the assist. The Roadrunners saw themselves down two goals heading into the second before the Rams added two for a 6-2 lead.
Bethany Glaser tallied her 10th goal of the year with an assist from
Esme Espinosa as Ramapo cut the lead in half. Jules Loughran put in the Rams final goal of the second quarter to take a 7-3 lead into halftime.
Ramapo would score three straight goals to start the third quarter to come within one of tying the game.
Kassidy Baez and Whitney each posted unassisted goals before Smeilus put one into the back of the net. Whitney earned the assist on Smeilus' goal with just under nine minutes left to play in the third only down one, 6-7. Ramapo added one more goal in the quarter to the Rams two as FSC took a 9-7 lead into the fourth. Smeilus and Whitney teamed up for back-to-back goals to start the fourth quarter to tie the game at nine with just over 9:30 left to play. The Rams would score four unanswered goals to pull away for a 13-9 win.
Smeilus led the way with four goals tonight while adding one assist for five points. She also posted three draw controls. Whitney added two goals and three assists also for five points. Lauren Travagalini collected four ground balls, three draw controls and one cause turnover in the game while
Ashley Czeczuga posted three caused turnovers, two ground balls and one draw control. Glaser led the way with six draw controls while she added two goals. Daniella Indomencio tallied 13 saves in the game for the Roadrunners.
Ramapo returns to action on Wednesday, March 19th when they host Mount Saint Mary College for a non-conference game at the Athletic Center Turf Field at 7:00pm.
