Mahwah, NJ: The Maritime College women's lacrosse team snapped a three-game win streak from Ramapo College today at the Athletic Center Turf Field, 18-6. The Privateers even their record at 1-1 overall while the Roadrunners move to 3-1 overall.
Ramapo scored the first goal of the game when
Bethany Glaser put in an unassisted goal at 13:49. Maritime then poured in six unanswered goals to take a 6-1 lead heading into the second quarter. The Roadrunners added three goals in the second as Glaser,
Lauren Travaglini and
Jada Oddo each added a goal. The Privateers posted five more goals in the second as they took an 11-4 lead into halftime.
In the third, Michelle Pecoraro, Morgan Tracy and Gabrielle Nicolosi scored the first three goals of the quarter for Maritime before
Erin Smeilus tallied back-to-back goals as Oddo and
Kassidy Baez each earned an assist. Tracy put in the final goal of the quarter as Maritime led, 15-6. In the fourth, the Privateers scored all three goals as Tracy, Pecoraro and Mary Cirelli each tallied a goal for the 18-6 win.
Glaser led the team with two goals, eight ground balls, three caused turnovers and three draw controls including her 100th career draw control. Travaglini finished with one goal, three ground balls, four caused turnovers and seven draw controls.
Erin Smeilus posted two goals, five draw controls and two caused turnovers while
Jada Oddo recorded one goal, one assist, three ground balls and three caused turnovers. Daniella Indomencio tallied seven saves in goal for the Roadrunners.
The Privateers were led by Nicolosi who collected 15 points in the game which included six goals and nine assists. Tracy added five goals and Pecoraro added three goals and one assist. Mia Brandenstein posted six ground balls and three caused turnovers. Tori Koenig collected seven saves in goal for Maritime in the win.
Ramapo returns to action on Wednesday, March 5th when they travel to Farmingdale State College for a non-conference game at 4:00 PM.
