Wayne, NJ: The William Paterson University women's basketball team defeated Ramapo College, 66-29. The Pioneers wrap up the regular season with an 18-7 overall record and 14-4 in the NJAC while the Roadrunners wrap up the year with a 3-22 overall record and 2-16 in the conference.
The Pioneers held the Roadrunners to just seven points in the first quarter as they scored 22 of their own. WPU then went into the locker room up 36-16 before holding the Roadrunners to just three points in the third quarter while they added 18 points to their score. Ramapo tallied 10 points in the fourth to WPU's 12.
Three players scored in double figures tonight for the Pioneers as they were led by
Brianna Smith who recorded 13 points while Jade Martinez and Renee Wills each collected ten points. Smith and Patty Walsh led the team by each grabbing six rebounds. WPU shot 34% (24-69) from the field, 28% (7-25) from the three-point line and 64% (11-17) from the free throw line.
The Roadrunners were led by
Emma Cartwright who tallied 12 points in the game while pulling down two rebounds.
Alison Ahern collected seven points and nine rebounds along with two blocks. The team shot 20% (9-44) from the field and 71% (10-14) from the free throw line while they finished 1-14 (7%) from beyond the three-point line.
