MCDANIEL SLIPS PAST MEN'S BASKETBALL, 60-58

Westminster, MD:  The McDaniel College men's basketball team held on for a two-point victory over Ramapo College tonight at the Gill Center, 60-58. The Green Terror move to 2-0 overall while the Roadrunners now stand at 1-1 on the year.

McDaniel held a 27-24 at halftime after a back and forth first half between the two teams. Ramapo then opened up the second half with a 9-5 run to take a one-point lead with 13:09 on the clock with a driving layup from Tyrell Murchison. The Green Terror went on an 8-3 run of their own to retake the lead, 40-36, before Tim Linton snapped the run with a basket of his own with less than ten minutes remaining in the game, 38-40. The score was tied six times over the next six plus minutes, the last as McDaniel tied the game 53-53 with 3:54 on the clock with a pair of free throws from David Kearney. Ryan Shaffer drained a three-pointer for the Green Terror to give them a three-point lead with 3:06 remaining, 56-53. Ramapo would cut the lead to one with a basket from Jack O'Leary before McDaniel tallied their final four points from the free throw line for a 60-55 lead. Murchison would sink a three-pointer at the buzzer for the Roadrunners off a pass from Elijah Barlow as McDaniel recorded the 60-58 non-conference win.

Kearney led the team with 16 points, eight rebounds, two assists and one steal while Ryan Shaffer finished with nine points and eight rebounds. The Green Terror shot 33% (16-48) from the field, 33% (8-24) from the three-point line and 71% (20-28) from the free throw line.

Linton led the way for the Roadrunners with 15 points, five rebounds, two assists and one block while Murchison added 14 points, seven rebounds and one assist. Roland Majors contributed with nine points and a team high eight rebounds. The Roadrunners shot 38 % (19-49) from the field, 30% (3-10) from the three-point line and 68% (17-25) from the free throw line.

The Roadrunners return to action tomorrow when they take on Hood College at 2:15 PM.
