St. Davids, PA: The Eastern University field hockey team held off a comeback by Ramapo College tonight to win a non-conference game, 2-1. The Eagles move to 7-4 overall while the Roadrunners now stand at 3-7 overall.
Neither team scored in the first quarter before Eastern got on the board in the second quarter with a goal in the 24th minute (23:44). Karlee Howard scored an unassisted goal to put the team on the board, her eighth of the season. In the third, Morgan Unruh collected her fourth goal of the year off a pass from CJ Summa to put the Eagles up, 2-0. The Roadrunners were awarded a penalty corner in the 49th minute of action which led to a goal by
Allison Tanasy (48:03).
Kayla Gray would earn her fourth assist of the year as Tanasy hit the back of the net for her fourth goal of the season. Tanasy has now scored in three straight games for the Roadrunners. The Eastern defense kept the Roadrunners off the board in the final 20+ minutes of action to earn the 2-1 victory. Angelina Catania for the Eagles and
Emily Getz for the Roadrunners each played 60 minutes in goal; Catania posted seven saves while Getz recorded eight. Eastern held a slight 10-8 advantage in shots on goal in the game while they earned seven penalty corners to Ramapo's four.
The Roadrunners return to action on Saturday, October 11th when they host #16-ranked Rowan University at the Athletic Center at 7:30 PM.
