Camden, NJ: The Rutgers-Camden University women's soccer team used a 1-0 victory over visiting Ramapo College tonight in the NJAC season opener. The Scarlet Raptors improve to 5-3-2 overall and 1-0 in the NJAC while the Roadrunners move to 2-5-1 overall and 0-1 in the conference.
Asia Horne put the Scarlet Raptors on the board in the 31st minute (30:08) with her third goal of the season. Brianne Reeves earned the assist on the eventual game-winning goal. Ramapo had a chance to tie the score late in the second half in the 79th minute (78:10) when
Emily Dustman's header hit the post.
The Scarlet Raptors edged the Roadrunners 3-2 in shots on goal while they also held a 2-1 advantage in corner kicks in the game.
Gabby Matias posted two saves in the game for the Roadrunners in goal while Michaela Graham tallied two saves for Rutgers-Camden.
Ramapo returns to action on October 2nd when they host William Paterson University at 3pm in NJAC action.
