Mahwah, NJ: The William Paterson University women's soccer team earned a 2-0 NJAC road win over Ramapo College this afternoon. The Pioneers move to 5-3-3 overall and 1-0-1 in the NJAC while the Roadrunners now stand at 2-6-1 overall and 0-2-0 in the conference.
The Pioneers scored one goal in each half to earn their first NJAC win of the season. Abby Lonergan scored her first goal of the season hitting the back of the net in the 36th minute (35:19) of the first half. Christina Jimenez earned the assist to put the Pioneers up, 1-0. In the second half, Janie Henderson scored her second goal (78:14) of the season to extend the WPU lead to, 2-0. For the game, the Pioneers held a 5-1 advantage in shots on goal while Ramapo posted all four corner kicks in the game.
Gabby Matias posted three saves for Ramapo while Sarah Mantilla recorded one saves for the Pioneers.
Ramapo returns to action on Saturday, October 5th when they travel to Kean University for a NJAC game at 7:30pm.
