Mahwah, NJ: The #2 Ramapo College softball team won two games to advance in the NJAC Softball Tournament this afternoon at the Athletic Center. The Roadrunners (30-9) defeated #4 Stockton University, 4-1 in game one and #5 TCNJ, 5-0 in game two.
Needing to win two games today to stay alive in the NJAC Tournament, the team combined for 18 hits in the two games including six home runs while the pitching staff combined to strikeout eight with no walks. This is Ramapo's 8th season in program history recording 30 victories while this is the 3rd under head coach
Bridgette Quimpo.
Game 1:
Stockton got on the board in the third inning when a hit to centerfield was misplayed allowing Brianna Segnello to score for a 1-0 lead. Ramapo wasted no time as
Avery Kontura and
Alexis Corra each hit home runs in the fourth inning to take a 2-1 lead. In the fifth,
Katie Rygiel hit a solo home run down the left line while
Ysabellah Otero connected on the team's fourth solo home run of the game in sixth, 4-1.

Kassy Stefanski (13-4) struck out six and walked none. She held the Ospreys to just two hits once the Roadrunners took the lead in the fourth inning, as she scattered eight hits in the complete game victory.
Game 2:
Ramapo, playing as the away team in game two, would hold the Lions scoreless while starting pitcher
Marissa DiPaolo (12-3) spun a one-hitter. DiPaolo surrendered a single to Julia Kinnally in the bottom of the first inning.
The Roadrunners would get on the board in a big way in the top of the fifth inning when Corra launched a three-run home run over the left field wall, her 6th of the season. Kontura and
Mahogany Wheeler singled and reached on a fielder's choice respectively to get on base before Corra stepped to the plate. The home runs continued in the sixth when
Kori Gargiulo connected on her second of the season to extend the lead, 4-0. Ramapo scored their first run that wasn't over the fence in the seventh. Corra laced a single down the left field line which plated Bartolomeo, 5-0. DiPaolo and the Ramapo defense sent TCNJ down 1-2-3 in the bottom of the seventh to earn the victory.
DiPaolo struck out two and walked none in the complete game one-hitter. Corra led the way at the plate finishing 3-4 with one run scored and four RBI while Rygiel finished 2-4.
