#21 RAMAPO SWEEPS NJCU IN NJAC ACTION

Mahwah, NJ:  The #21 ranked Ramapo College softball team swept New Jersey City University today at the Athletic Center, 2-0 in game one, and 10-2 in game two. The Roadrunners improve to 26-6 overall and 13-3 in the NJAC while the Gothic Knights now stand at 10-19 overall and 4-12 in the NJAC.
 
Game One:
Ramapo starting pitcher Marissa DiPaolo (11-1) spun a two-hitter in the shutout victory as the Roadrunners won game one. DiPaolo struck out six and walked none in five innings of work while Brooke Knight earned her sixth save of the season. Knight pitched the final two innings holding the Gothic Knights scoreless with three strikeouts and no walks.
 
Kori Gargiulo got the Roadrunners on the board in the bottom of the second inning. With one out, Hannah Hensler reached on an error before moving to second base on a pass ball. Avery Kontura drew a two-out walk before Gargiulo laced a single to right field which allowed both runners to score for the 2-0 lead.
 
Four different Roadrunners collected a hit in game one while Alexis Corra finished 1-2 with a double.
 
Game two:
Corra put the Roadrunners on the board in the bottom of the first inning with a two-run home run as Katie Rygiel also scored, 2-0. In the second, Lia Milsom drove in Kontura with a RBI single before Rygiel plated two runs with a RBI single of her own, 5-0. Corra then drove home Rygiel with a single through the infield and later scored on Avery Bartolomeo's RBI double, 8-0. Hensler drove in Bartolomeo with an RBI single before later scoring on a wild pitch, 10-0.
 
NJCU scored their two unearned runs in the fourth inning before Knight shut the door in the fifth inning with two strikeouts in relief in the circle. Kassy Stefanski (10-4) struck out seven, walked none and scattered three hits in four innings of work.Ramapo collected ten hits in the game as Corra finished 2-2 with two runs scored and three RBI. Bartolomeo and Hensler each finished 2-3 with one run scored and one RBI.
 
The Roadrunners return to action on Saturday, April 27th when they host Kean University in the final regular season NJAC games of the year. Game one is set to begin at 1:00 PM.
