AHERN COLLECTS A CAREER HIGH 16 REBOUNDS IN LOSS AT MANHATTANVILLE

Purchase, NY:  The Manhattanville University women's basketball team defeated Ramapo College tonight in non-conference action, 62-38. The Valiants open the season at 1-0 overall while the Roadrunners now stand at 0-3 on the year.
 
Ramapo opened the scoring in the game with a jumper from Bailey Murrell before the Valiants got on the board with a basket of their own. The Roadrunners kept the game close before a 7-0 Valiant run to close out the first quarter put them up 15-8.  Manhattanville would open up a lead of 39-21 at halftime before they outscored Ramapo 13-11 in the third and 10-6 in the fourth. Three Valiants scored in double figures for the team as Kathleen O'Mara tallied 12 points, Madison Carlo posted 11 and Julie Debrocky added ten. Niyona Smith grabbed a team high eight rebounds while adding nine points. The team shot 35% (25-70) from the field, 28% (6-21) from the three-point line and 54% (6-11) from the free throw line.
 
For the Roadrunners, Damiya Graham posted her first double digit game of her career as she collected ten points to lead the team Graham also collected two rebounds and one assist. Alison Ahern added a career high 16 rebounds while adding eight points, two steals and one blocked shot. Angelene Mattingly finished with six points, two steals and one blocked shot while Brianna Smith contributed with four points, six rebounds. Murrell added four points, four rebounds and two steals. Ramapo shot 30% (15-50) from the field, 14% (1-7) from the three-point line and 70% (7-10) from the free throw line.
 
Ramapo returns to action on Saturday, November 16th when they host Haverford College in a non-conference game at 1pm. The Roadrunners will also be unveiling their 2024 ECAC Championship banner prior to the game.
