JOHNSTONE POSTS SEASON HIGH IN WIN AT TCNJ

Ewing, NJ:  The Ramapo College women's basketball team earned a key NJAC victory over the College of New Jersey this afternoon, 67-58. The Roadrunners push their win streak to seven games and now stand at 10-5 overall and 7-2 in the conference. The Lions drop to 9-7 overall and 6-3 in the NJAC.
 
Three players scored in double figures for the Roadrunners as they were led by Olivia Johnstone who tallied a season high 20 points. Jada Thompson added her 7th double double of the season as she posted a team high 14 rebounds and 13 points while adding five assists and three steals. Jackie Ventricelli posted 18 points including three three-pointers, four assists and two steals. Alison Ahern contributed with six points and Kellie Martinez added five including a key three-pointer to retake the lead, 15-13, heading into the second quarter.
 
Ventricelli opened the fourth quarter for the Roadrunners with a three-pointer off a dish from Johnstone to push the lead to eight, 49-41 (9:42). That basket started a 12-5 run for Ramapo which was capped off by another three-pointer from Ventricelli once again assisted by Johnstone. The three-pointer gave the Roadrunners a 58-46 lead with 5:46 left in the game. TCNJ would go on a 7-1 run of their own as Julia Setaro scored all seven points, cutting the Ramapo lead to 59-53 with 2:20 on the clock. Thompson and Grace Kowalski each tallied jumpers for their team before Ventricelli went to the line three times in the final 43 seconds of the game and converted on all six free throws. TCNJ's final basket was a three-pointer from Nina Branchizio before Ventricelli went to the line the final two times.
 
Setaro led the Lions with 14 points while Arianna McCleod posted 10 points. Kaitlyn Deiter led the way with eight rebounds while she added eight points and three steals. The Lions shot 38% (24-62) from the three-point line, 17% (3-17) from the three-point line and 77% (7-9) from the free throw line.
 
The Roadrunners return to action on Wednesday, January 17th when they travel to Rutgers-Newark University for a 6:00pm NJAC game.
