Mahwah, NJ: The Rutgers-Camden University women's soccer team earned a 1-0 win over Ramapo College today in NJAC action at the Athletic Center. The Scarlet Raptors improve to 5-4-1 overall and 1-1 in the NJAC while Roadrunners move to 2-5 overall and 0-1 in the conference.
The Roadrunners and Scarlet Raptors played to a 0-0 tie into halftime while Ramapo recorded five shots to Rutgers-Camden's seven. It wasn't until the 53rd minute when the Scarlet Raptors got on the board with the eventual game-winning goal from Amy Maurer. Maurer collected the ball after a scramble inside the 18-yard box and sent the ball past the Ramapo keeper for a 1-0 score.
Kaylee Babasade almost tied the game for the Roadrunners as her shot was saved by the Scarlet Raptor keeper who pushed the ball over the top of the goal for a Ramapo corner kick. On the kick, Babasade sent the ball into the box and
Amber Maher was able to get a head on the ball to redirect it towards the net as it banked off the post.
Rutgers-Camden collected 14 shots in the game and eight on goal while Ramapo posted 11 shots and four on goal. The Roadrunners held a 5-3 advantage in corner kicks.
Makenna Tahbaz posted six saves in goal for the Roadrunners while Kayla McKeever recorded four saves for Rutgers-Camden.
The Roadrunners return to action on Saturday, September 30th when they travel to Montclair State University for a 11:00 AM conference game.
