Madison, NJ: The Fairleigh Dickinson University-Florham women's soccer team (1-0) came back to defeat Ramapo College (0-1) tonight, 3-2, to kick-off the 2023 season for both teams.
The Roadrunners got on the board late in the first half when
Ashley Agrillo scored her first goal of the season off a pass from
Emily Dustman for a 1-0 lead in the 38th minute (37:55). Ramapo went into halftime with the one goal lead.
In the second half, the Devils got on the board with Ashley Dietrich's goal just 21 seconds into the half while Ashleigh Frankel assisted to tie the game, 1-1. Mia Lopez scored an unassisted goal in the 60th minute (59:05) to put the Devils up 2-1 before
Amber Maher put the game-tying goal into the back of the net for the Roadrunners just over a minute later (60:15).
Carla Goodwin assisted on Ramapo's second goal for the 2-2 tie. Dietrich collected her second goal of the game, unassisted in the 75th minute for a 3-2 score, which proved to be the game-winner.
Ramapo outshot the Devils 20-16 overall and 12-5 on goal. The FDU-Florham keeper, Erica Blackburn, made ten saves, including seven in the first half. The Devils also collected seven corner kicks to Ramapo's six.
Makenna Tahbaz posted two saves in goal for the Roadrunners.
Ramapo returns to action on Wednesday, September 6th as they travel to St. Joseph's Long Island for a non-conference game at 6pm.
