Patchogue, NY: The #1 seeded Saint Joseph's University Long Island men's volleyball team came back to win a five-set thriller in the Skyline Championship Match over #2 seeded Ramapo College, 3-2 (25-23, 25-23, 20-25, 15-25, 10-15). The Golden Eagles move to 22-8 overall and earn the conference's automatic bid to the 2023 NCAA Men's Volleyball Tournament. The tournament field will be announced Monday, April 17th at 10:00am on www.ncaa.com. The Roadrunners wrap up the season with a 20-12 overall record.
Andrew Finnegan led the Roadrunners with a career high 26 kills while he added a team high 16 digs.
Sean Nieves hit .364 in the match as he put down 11 kills on 22 attempts and just three errors.
Reece Kirchofer posted ten kills, nine digs and two assists while
Conor Charlow added six kills, two blocks and two digs. On defense
Mauricio Catalan collected seven digs.
JoJo Meyer dished out a career high 52 assists, the first time in his career he has eclipsed 50 in a match. He added one ace, one block and four digs. Ramapo hit .259 in the match with 57 kills on 135 attempts and 22 errors.
For the Golden Eagles, Mark Williams hit .405 with 23 kills on 42 attempts and six errors. He also posted 11 digs, four aces and three blocks. Luke MacPherson added 14 kills and eight digs while Tyler Anderson posted 12 kills and six digs. CJ Johnson collected a match-high 56 assists while also posting five blocks, five digs and six kills. The team recorded 68 kills in the match on 134 attempts with just 16 errors.
