Union, NJ: The Kean University women's lacrosse team used a late scoring surge in the third quarter to earn a, 13-8, NJAC win this afternoon over Ramapo College. The Cougars move to 3-8 overall and 1-0 in the NJAC while the Roadrunners now stand at 4-7 overall and 0-2 in the conference.
With the score tied 4-4 in the third, the Cougars poured in five goals to take a 9-4 lead with just over six minutes remaining in the quarter. Ramapo added one goal at the end of the third by
Mary Rakowski and one to start the fourth off the stick of
Kelly Griffin as Kean led by three, 9-6. Kean added four more goals in the final quarter of action to Ramapo's two, one each by Rakowski and Griffin, as Kean held onto the NJAC victory, 13-8.
Colleen Mason posted four goals and one assist for the Roadrunner to lead the team in goals. Griffin and Rakowski each tallied two goals while Griffin collected a team high two assists.
Alyssa Curto collected eighth saves in the game for Ramapo in 60 minutes of action.
Rosalee Lachner led the Cougars with four goals while Grace Michielli and Amanda Brzoska each added three. Nicole Peters tallied four saves in the net for Kean.
The Roadrunners return to action Saturday, April 15th when they travel to Rowan University for a NJAC game at 1pm.
