Mahwah, NJ: In their home opener, the Ramapo College women's lacrosse team earned a 19-15 victory over The College of Mount Saint Vincent behind
Alyssa Curto's 100
th career save. With their first victory of the season, the Roadrunners now stand at .500 at 1-1 overall and MSV falls to 0-2 on the year.
Curto collected ten saves in the win including her 100
th career save here at the college as she played the complete 60 minutes earning the victory.
Colleen Mason would lead the team with six goals and
Kelly Griffin and
Erin Smeilus each added three.
Bethany Glaser dished out three assists and Griffin and Smeilus each assisted on two goals.
MSV's Alicia Rodriguez led the Dolphins with six goals and Ava Starace added five. Rodriguez and Ashley Teal each collected two assists and Katherine Hungerford made 13 saves for the Dolphins.
Mason would give Ramapo a two-goal lead to start the game before Starace would get the Dolphins on the board with 6:44 left in the period. Ramapo would go up 5-2 with goals from Smeilus, Griffin and
Kaylie Gresek before Rodriguez struck with back-to-back goals to close the gap, 4-5. The two teams traded goals and MSV would take the lead at the half with goals from Macey Forg and Rodriguez, 9-8. The Roadrunners would close out the third period with a point from
Caitlyn Featherstone to lead 13-12 heading into the final 15 minutes of play. Ramapo would outscore the Dolphins in the final period, 6-3 to earn the victory at home.
The Roadrunners led in shots, 39-26 and ground balls, 19-11 while Ramapo completed 16 of their 13 attempts on clears and MSV went 9-18.
Ramapo returns to action on Wednesday, March 8
th for a 4pm game against Farmingdale State on the road.
