Mahwah, NJ: The Maritime College women's lacrosse team moved to 5-1 overall with a non-conference victory over Ramapo College today, 16-8. The Roadrunners move to 1-5 overall.
Ramapo put up six goals in the first quarter as Maritime recorded three as the Roadrunners went into the second up, 6-3.
Bethany Glaser and
Lauren Travaglini put Ramapo on the board with back-to-back goals to start the first before Maritime tied the game with two of their own.
Kelly Griffin collected her 14th goal of the year before the Privateers added their third goal of the game to tie it at three. Travaglini,
Colleen Mason and
Kaylie Gresek put in three unanswered goals to wrap up the first for the three goal lead. Ramapo added two more in the second from Glaser and
Erin Smeilus to put Ramapo up 8-5 before Maritime would score 11 unanswered goals the remainder of the game. Jenna Lesiewicz scored the eventual game-winner with just over 12 minutes left in the third quarter to take a 9-8 lead before they added four more goals in the third and three in the fourth.
Glaser and Travaglini led the Roadrunners with two goals each.
Alyssa Curto posted 13 saves in the game for Ramapo. For Maritime, Liz Pomaro collected six saves while Nicole Johnson led the way with four goals.
The Roadrunners return to action on Saturday, March 25th when they host Old Westbury at 1pm. Prior to the game the Roadrunners will honor their senior class.
